What started as just a little DIY!!!

We have made it through the holidays and New Year and even the flu (even with a flu shot), colds, sinus infections, colds, colds and more colds!!!  Let the spring be here and sickness move on!!!

Well the title of the post explains it all.  This project started out from one little Pinterest link that I had been looking for an answer to for a long time.  See when they built our house I think they quite possibly picked the most inexpensive fixtures to finish it with.  Our vanities in our bathroom were sufficient but they were laminate coated with white porcelain tops.  Well over the years of cleaning with harsh chemicals that I no longer use thanks to Norwex :) they had yellowed.  Now looking like white porcelain on top of almond vanities!  YUCK!  Well low-and-behold I saw you could peel off the laminate which would leave you with a beautiful ready to paint surface!  So on my Monday off I started ripping away!  Partially into the demolish I decided I should take pictures so excuse the mess!

AFTER:

Above:  Added trim to mirrors, new light fixtures, removed laminate from vanities and painted with Benjamin Moore Aura Black Satin and Painted Knobs with Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint!

Scuffed my mirror trim and a HUGE change in the vanities!!!

My ceiling...YEP!!!  I painted it BLUE!!!  We think it turned out FAB!!

THE NEXT SET:  MY FAVE CHANGE!!

AFTER:

Knocked white tile down, new glass tiles, painted facing of tub and new pendant light fixture!!  New wall paint from Benjamin Moore!

AFTER:
Removed shower door...YUCK!!!  I HATE SHOWER DOORS!  They always have water spots and they ALWAYS have to be cleaned!  NOW.....Just a new liner when the current one is getting shabby!  Yeah for Bobby....he had shower duty!!!  :)

Knocked down old white shower tile and ledge seat in shower.  Which made much more room and we put two built-in shelves for shampoo and stuff!  New shower head and knob and of course.....our rock floor which WE ARE IN AWE of!!!  It feels like a massage on your feet!!!

Bobby's side!  SO nice and neat!!!

Here is my color inspiration!!!

So all-in-all we feel like the "little DIY" was hit for sure!!!  I love walking into my bathroom every morning now!!!  It truly is the little things that keep us motivated!!!!

ENJOY!!!

Well, when I started this blog I never promised how often it would get updated!  I guess at this rate I am doing well with twice a year!  Just a few things I had to share....

This is a for sure prediction in Jacks world!!!  Go Vikings!!!!  Daddy just shakes his head at what he calls nonsense!!!  HA HA!!!

Jack is going two days a week to CDC in Wharton and he is finally doing great! It took him a little while to get warmed up to the place but now he walks right into his room leaving me in the dust! My mom keeps him the other two days and he has turned into quite the Nana's boy!!! When he is awake he has only one mode and that is go, go, go!!! He gets into everything and anything and we laugh every moment of the way!

Maddy is doing phenomenal in school! We are so proud of her!!! After the first week she got use to her busy schedule and is doing great. She is in a combination of Pre-K and Kindergarten and she loves both classes. She also gets PT, OT, Speech, Assisted PE, and extra music classes on top of the everyday school curriculum! I got an e-mail from one of her therapists that works with her on her communication device and she said she is doing great with it and that they are going to start trying to incorporate it into her classroom time! They were working on shapes and colors and Maddy accurately chose every one when she was given a choice. Her therapist then worked on the same activity two days later knowing how well she did the previous day. She said Maddy was picking the wrong one and then giggling and would then pick the right one. Her aide and therapist figured out Maddy was playing with them that day because she was giggling after each one and would always pick the right one next! I guess she has a little silliness in her too!!! :)

Here are just a few pictures that I never got posted! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the cooler temps!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this time of year!!! I have decided I should just start a pumpkin patch since I go through so much pumpkin when fall hits!!! I think I have already tried 5 new pumpkin recipes and the next one up is Pumpkin Greek frozen yogurt! I will let ya know how it goes!!!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Little Rock to see family this past summer.  The kids had a blast plying with their cousins!!

They were running around the house chasing each other!

We have been enjoying all this nice weather that Spring has brought us!  Lots of fun outdoor activities!  The end of March we took Maddy for her Birthday to Morgan's Wonderland!  It is a complete handicap accessible park!  Every ride is wheel chair friendly or will accommodate seating for a child with development issues!  She absolutely loved it as did our entire family that joined in the fun!  We stayed in a hotel that night and took the kiddos swimming and then explored the river walk the next day!  It was a fun filled weekend and Maddy said she wants to go back next year!!  ;)  We spent Easter weekend ringing in Bobby's "17 year" class reunion.  They did a '90-'95 class reunion and we felt like we were back in high school prom renting a 36 person stretch limo bus!  Nothing like pulling in style!!!  It's o.k. to be a kid sometimes!!!  We woke up Easter Sunday and the Easter Bunny had made his stop by The Martin's and left Easter baskets and a Yard full of Easter Eggs for the kids!  TOO MUCH CANDY!!!  Bobby celebrated his 35th Birthday this month and tried to be 21 all over again with a "boys only" outing to Houston!  We also celebrated Grandpa Raymond's Birthday a few weekends ago and went out to eat for a awesome lunch and took a tour of the George Bush Library in College Station!  What a neat tour!!!  The kids and adults enjoyed all the fun history!  I think there might have even been a video on the campaign trail with the upcoming "Molly Loehr for State Representative", the new and upcoming alternative party!  Ha ha!!   We spent this past weekend crafting and taking the kids to the zoo and to ride the train at Hermann Park.  Maddy and Jack LOVED the zoo and the highlight for Maddy was the 4D Dora and Diego animal adventure experience.  They both wore the 4D glasses and it felt like you were right in the movie!  From when they would peel a banana the scent would enter the theatre to flying the airplane each and every bump and turn!  It was AMAZING!!!  Maddy was in AMAZEMENT!!!!  Hope everyone has enjoyed the wonderful spring also!!

Back at it!!!!

Well spring is in full bloom and the weather has been wonderful!!  We have remained so busy since the start of 2012, I have not even thought about a minute to sit by the computer to blog!  BUT, I have some awesome footage of Maddy working so amazingly well with her communication device I just had to share!  Please excuse me and my wondering in front of the camera, in my "not so attractive attire"!  We get comfy around here in the evenings!!!  ;)  We have been so proud of Maddy working so hard on her device, she has some good days and some days where she just doesn't want to work.  But I guess we all have those days so you can't blame her a bit!  Lately, she has been doing such a great job so I am just going to go ahead and share this video and STOP talking!!!  (that doesn't happen much!!!)

We have lots of exciting weekends coming up!  Bobby and my dad are cooking in a cook-off team fundraiser for hospice this weekend.  They have been busy getting all the meat and recipes all together to of course they are thinking "kick some BBQ butt"!  I will let ya know how it turns out!

Next week Maddy turns 5 years old!  I cannot believe how quickly 5 years has gone by!  She is just as sweet as the day she was born.  She has such a sweet demeanor and she just warms our hearts every time we hear that belly giggle and see that bright smile on her face!  We are taking her to San Antonio for her birthday next weekend.  They have a park called Morgan's Wonderland that is specially equipped for special needs.  All the rides accommodate a wheel chair or have a 5 point harness strap to hold someone that cannot sit up.  They have swings for wheelchairs also!  Very Cool place!!!!

Hope this wonderful weather finds everyone happy and healthy!  I will share some random pictures from our everyday crazy life!

Go Texans!!!  Go Vikings!!!
